Westerbaen W.Z. Tweede Deel." en with printed address -also still blank in this design: "T'Utrecht, by Hermanus Besseling." and the artist name - blank in the design : J.C. Philips inv. et fecit 1737." A Jewish high priest in conversation with an angel, with burning flame on the head as a symbol for belief. In addition to them a crowned woman who points to her scepter on the tables of law. In the foreground putti that show sheets of paper on which the different namesof the tribes of Israel. In the background tent encampments of the Israelites, with the copper hose, and the Sinai mountain. In the frame of the cartouche medallions with biblical performances. Jan Caspar Philips (1690-1775), was a German engraver who settled in Amsterdam. In 1725 he became the teacher of the engraver Simon Fokke and his nephew Caspar Philips. He contributed engravings to Jan Wagenaar's 'Hedendaagse Historie' and made the engravings in 1743 for Kornelis de Wit's 'Verzaameling van Afbeeldingen van Doopsgezinde Leeraaren'. He died at Egelantiersgracht. Trimmed; previously folded vertically. Verso w. illegible old ink annotation and traces from former mounting.
