Fine copy, comes with a set of two original Gelatine Silver prints (29 x 21 cm.) on PE paper, from the Heiligensee Bahnhof, at the backside signed and dated by Fons Brasser. These two prints are the first two images in the book.
This is the German version of "Berlin Geisterbahn," which was published simultaneously by Uitgeverij Voetnoot in Amsterdam. The Rijksmuseum Twenthe also dedicated an exhibition to this work by Brasser in 2019, unfortunately without publishing a catalog.
The photo series "Berlin Geisterbahn" by Fons Brasser consists of 118 photographs of dilapidated and disused S-Bahn stations in what was then West Berlin. Photographer and sculptor Fons Brasser (Haarlem, 1944) photographed the stations between 1983 and 1986, after they were closed by the East German authorities and before they were restored by the West Germans.
He captured all 59 S-Bahn stations in former West Berlin with his camera, always using the same formula: one photo of the station entrance and one of the abandoned platform.
