The work examines how this symbol, which began as a figure in Greek mythology, has been used and interpreted by writers and artists such as Calderón, Voltaire and Goethe, and what meanings have been attached to it in different cultural and historical contexts. Dora Panofsky (1885-1965) was an art historian who worked alongside her husband Erwin Panofsky on iconological studies. She was known for her in-depth analyses of art and symbolism in cultural context. Her work, including Pandora's Box, explores the symbiotic relationship between visual representation and cultural meaning. Erwin Panofsky (1892-1968) was one of the most influential art historians of the 20th century, famous for his methods in iconology: the interpretation of images as cultural signs. His analytical approach combines art historical, philosophical and sociological perspectives.
