The Observer's Book of Aircraft,
unlike most other contemporary source books which devote their space to the aeroplanes most likely to be seen, concentrates on those
aircraft currently in production, under test at the time of closing for press or scheduled to commence their test programmes during the volume's year of currency. The contents of this 1976 edition embrace the latest aircraft of nearly a score of countries; its scope ranges from such recent military débutantes as the Jugoslav-Romanian Orao light strike aircraft and Israel Aircraft Industries' Kfir fighter, through the latest production models of such Soviet fighters as the MiG-23. MiG-25 and Su-17, to the newest experimental military transports, such as the Boeing YC-14 and McDonnell Douglas YC-15, a variety of new military training aircraft, which include the Aermacchi MB 339, the Beech T-34C, the Fuji KM-2B and the Valmet Leko-70, new utility transports,
