Presented through the eyes of CAC, this book follows the great rise and sad ending of one of he few aircraft manufacturers in the world to
produce both engines and airframes and possibly the only one to do both at the one facility.
As well as being an intriguing history of Australian aviation, this book also contains over 100 photographs, many published for the first
time, as well as an appendices section containing data sheets, biographies, various summaries and line drawings.
Brian Leslie Hill has spent all his working life in the Australian aircraft industry. Beginning as an apprentice, he spent 10 years in aircraft maintenance including five years as a Licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineer and periods as a Maintenance Type Specialist on several types During a further four years he wrote maintenance manuals including two new manuals for types to Australia for the first time. After training for flight crew he spent 17 years as a Flight Engineer including five years Checking and Training.
In 1981 he began working part-time at Aircraf Magazine as Technical Editor before taking over as Editor in 1984-85. Reverting to Technical
Editor, he continued to work for the magazine until 1991.
In 1983 he began pilot training and holds a First Class Airline Transport Pilots Licence and is currently employed as an airline pilot
