FOREWORD
George Boggs is a "people person" par excellence - and that is a rare achievement for a man trained to master something much less complex- -machinery! Reaching with a wrench into a turboprop valve, or with counsel into the mind of a troubled missionary, ""Uncle George" has his knowing ways. I am tempted to coin a new word – ‘’ambigifted”--just to describe him! The many thousands who benefited from his skills, especially on those wild tropical frontiers, know what I mean. Again and again George's ability to thread a radarless aircraft from one tiny gap in the cumulus to the next was some patient's only link with life (not to mention George's!) And how often did George look back to see those same gaps close like burning bridges behind him! How often too did his wife Fran, a heroine of our time, count her heartbeats until George had landed safely.
How often also was this cordilleran-hopping pilot the only counselor some lonely, isolated, discouraged missionaries could have for perhaps a year at a time. How often, finally, did the breakthrough that would cause the first congregation to flower in a new tribe depend upon George's judgment as a pilot and his compassion as an encourager!
Gloria Graham's five-year labor of love has at last made this previously unsung couple's story available. Relive the adventure. Absorb its wisdom. And join George and Fran in praising the Lord who guided them through it all. Then share the story with others until the whole world knows of Him.
