Milne's collections for children, When We Were Very Young and Now We Are Six. Here we are introduced to Winnie-the-Pooh and his friends Piglet, Eeyore, Tigger, Rabbit, Kanga and Roo, Owl and Christopher Robin.
Pooh's world is reflected in Milne's nursery verse where Pooh and Christopher Robin are forever playing.
The characters in the stories are based upon the real nursery toys which belonged to A. A. Milne's son, Christopher Robin and their adventures are set in the Ashdown Forest where the family lived. The artist E. H. Shepard lovingly drew the Forest and the toys. The places he drew can still be seen today.
