= The World Set Free is a prophetic science-fiction novel that imagines the discovery of atomic energy and its eventual use in warfare. Wells envisions a world where nuclear bombs bring about massive destruction, leading humanity to the brink of collapse. However, out of the ashes of global conflict, a new world order arises based on peace, cooperation, and a global government focused on science and reason. The novel explores both the terrifying potential and the transformative promise of scientific progress. Joints and corners rubbed/ slightly worn; lower corner frontcover bumped.
