Attractive early edition of At the Back of the North Wind by Scottish author George MacDonald. First published in book form in 1871, it had previously appeared in episodes in a children's magazine. It is a fantasy story about the boy Diamond who travels through the night with the mysterious Lady North Wind. The book also contains the stand-alone fairy tale Little Daylight.

MacDonald (1824-1905) was an author, poet and Christian minister, known for his innovative work in the fantasy genre. His books influenced authors such as C.S. Lewis and J.R.R. Tolkien.
