Original edition of important history and description of 's-Hertogenbosch and the Meierij (one of the four parts of the Duchy of Brabant, the other three being the Margraviate of Antwerp, the County of Brussels and the County of Louvain). This edition is written by the historian and magistrate of 's-Hertogenbosch, the Orangist Johan Hendrik van Heurn (1716-1793) who was alderman 14 times between 1740 and 1790. The history is still important because Van Heurn made extensively use of the local archives and cited many sources
which are now lost.

Fritschius after Maurer and an engraved head-piece (85x98 mm) in vol.1; a large folding view (255x500 mm) of the 'Gezigt der Markt te 's-Hertogenbosch met het gevegt tusschen de burgery en het Schermers Gilde (Market place in 's-Hertogenbosch with the fight between the burghers and the Swordsmen Guilt), 1 July 1579', engraved by G.J. de Huyser after J. Everts, and a full-page portrait of Anthony Schets Baron van Grobbendonck, Governor of 's-Hertogenbosch and the Meierij from 1601 till the conquest by Henderick Henry in 1629, engraved by Fritschius after J. Everts in vol. 2.
Many interesting woodcut tail-pieces, title-page of vol. 1 printed in red and black. Uniformly bound in s;. later full sheepskin, spines gilt, each with chamois and green marocco title labels lettered in gold, marbled endpapers.
