De Amerikaanse antropoloog Henry Otley Beyer (1883-1966) bracht een groot deel van zijn leven door in de Filipijnen, waar hij de inheemse bevolkingsgroepen van het land bestudeerde. In 1972 werd zijn collectie opgekocht door de National Library of Australia.
¶ Gebonden editie, een overdruk, "reprinted from 'Bulletin No. 29; pp.1-130". Dit exemplaar met gesigneerde opdracht van de auteur "With the highest regards / Manila, January 1949". Daarna kwam het boek in de bibliotheek van de kunstschilder Willem van Manen die er zijn handtekening en stempel onder heeft gezet.
