"This book concerns the relationship between that state which man describes as Heaven and that other state he calls earth, and it is about man's relationship in respect of them both. It relates the insights of Hinduism, Buddhism and Western Occultism to the Christion Revelation and seeks to establish the relationship between psychism and spirituality, and make plain the distinctions between them. The first part examines the idea of 'Earth' and relates the static concepts of Hinduism to the dynamic concepts of Teilhard de Chardin, setting both against the background of orthodox Biblical teaching. The second part attempts to resolve the conflict between the idea of an historical Fall and the process of evolution, examining Occult and Islamic ideas as well as orthodox Christian doctrine. The third part considers the idea of 'Heaven' as a relationship with God and ends, controversially, with a reconciliation of the idea of reincarnation with Christian orthodoxy and the serious suggestion that responsible mediumship can be a practice of the Communion of Saints."
