Based on extensive original materials in Europe and the United States, this book details Scheyer's career; her friendships in Germany, Switzerland, and the U.S.; her life in a Hollywood home designed by Richard Neutra to display art; and her relationships with celebrities and extraordinary, collectors. The book also discusses the four artists' friendships among themselves, the works of art they exchanged, and the difficulties each encountered in the 1930s .
