Fouquier-Tainville Portrait of Antoine Quentin Fouquier de Tinville (1746-1795), a French lawyer and public prosecutor during the French Revolution and Reign of Terror. Below the portrait a frieze of a courtroom with Tinville before his judges. Etching (frieze) and aquatint (portrait) on wove paper, sheet size 326 x 497 mm., platemark 284 x 435 mm., aquatint by Charles Levachez (active 1760-1820), etching by Jean Duplessi-Bertaux (1750-1818) after his own design, 1798. An interesting sheet, mixing two graphic techniques for very different effects. In good condition, the margins soiled and with several small tears (all well outside image area). A tape repair for one of the tears.
