Michael Thompson was born and raised in Washington State. It was in his father's portrait photo studio that he sharpened his eye behind the lens. After graduating from the Brooks Institutes of Photography, he moved to New York City to become the assistant of legendary photographer Irving Penn. Since. Thompson has photographed models and celebrities for prestigious fashion magazines and for fashion advertising campaigns, for perfumes or beauty products. His first book. Michael Thompson: Images was published in 2005. His photographs have been exhibited around the world. Michael Thompson: Portraits is his third book. Thompson lives in Oregon with his wife Kelly and two children. Ruby and Sean. Vince Aletti is a New York-based photo critic. A former art editor for the Village Voice, he reviews photography exhibitions for The New Yorker and photography books for Photograph. He co-curated the International Center of Photography's 2009 Fashion Year and the Avedon Fashion 1944-2000 exhibition. His book published in 2009, Male. reproduces photographs. paintings and ephemera from his own collection.
