The Licensing and Catering Act sets the following two requirements for managers in order to be able to serve alcohol:
• You must have sufficient knowledge and understanding of social responsibility.
• You must be registered in the Social Responsibility Register.
Having the SVH Social Responsibility Diploma shows that you have sufficient knowledge and understanding of social responsibility and you will be registered in the Social Responsibility Register. You will then receive the Certificate of knowledge and understanding of social responsibility. You meet the statutory requirements with this. But what precisely do you need to know to get your diploma and be registered in the Social Responsibility Register?
The Knowledge and Understanding of Social Responsibility (Licensing and Catering Act) Decree precisely states everything you need to know and be able to do. The level of these national requirements is established by the LEC-SVH in the Social Responsibility for hotel and catering
and off-licence establishments attainment objectives. The attainment objectives can be found on www.svh.nl. All attainment objectives are covered in this book. You first learn the statutory rules that you must know and then how you work in a guest-focused way, how your enforce rules and how you deal with risk behaviour. After this, you delve deeper into the social responsibility policy for alcohol, drugs, tobacco, gambling and safety. You will then be well prepared for the exam and, most importantly, for applying the knowledge in practice.
