this is an unconventional introduction into the history of biology, intended for lecturing on the history of science. For example, substantial space is devoted to errors in observation and interpretation in this subfield, together with other methodological problems. The book's three parts are: (I) A general but unconventional introduction; (II) A short factual history of biology, and the biggest part (III) Sources from the history of biology, ranging from Egyptian anatomy, the Old Testament, the classical writers to the Dutchmen Hugo de Vries and Gerrit Grijns, and the last one, Thomas Hunt Morgan, in total 133 'sources'.
