Oblong 4°., original clothbacked printed boards, with ties preserved. 88pp., including a preface and a notice to the pronounciation of Javanese words on verso, and a 10pp. description to the plates. 25 black/white plates after photographs by Kassian Cephas, loose in endpocket. Featuring sceneries, uniforms and blank javanese arms as presented during the Yogyakarta Royal Ceremony of Garebeg Mulud, full-page plan of the Craton (Royal Palace) with extensive key, some musicscores in text, extensive glossary, extensive glossary to terms and words appearing in text, another glossary to describing text to plates, errata, table with sequence of plates, table of contents. One of the first, if not the first, dutch language illustrated description of the Garebeg Mulud, a sacrifice ceremony as organized by the Craton or Palace, in which, amongst other things, sacred heirlooms are taken out to commemmorate the birth of Prophet Muhammad on 12 Rabiulawal or Mulud month (Islamic Calendar).
