PRSA Silver Anvil: Centennial Celebration
Fluor won the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) Silver Anvil award for its global Centennial celebration event held on April 21, 2012.
PRSA is the largest professional organization serving the U.S. public relations community. The Silver Anvil is awarded annually to companies and organizations that achieve the highest levels of success, creativity and resourcefulness on public relations and communications campaigns. Fluor's Corporate Affairs and Client Relations & Events groups received the honor - in the category of "Events and Observances Less than Seven Days" - at a banquet in New York City.
Fluor's Centennial celebration brought together more than 22,000 employees, retirees, Clients and suppliers around the world to participate in a live satellite broadcast event. It was the largest simultaneous gathering of Fluor employees in company history.
In its 60-plus-year history, the Silver Anvils have recognized PR agencies, large and small businesses, nonprofits, and government agencies. This year’s competition drew a total of 847 entries, and of those, only 144 programs were selected as finalists.
PRSA Bronze Anvil Award of Commendation: Fluor’s History Book
Fluor's Centennial history book, A Passion to Build: The Story of Fluor Corporation's First 100 Years, also took home a Bronze Anvil Award of Commendation.
The Bronze Anvil Award of Commendation was created by PRSA in 1969 to recognize outstanding public relations tactics — the individual items or components that contribute to the success of an overall program or campaign. Awards of Commendation are possible in 56 categories and subcategories, including Media Relations, Newsletters, Web Sites, Feature Stories, Press/ Media kits, Podcasts, Word-of-Mouth and Blogs.
The 200-page hardcover book, distributed to employees, clients and retirees worldwide, depicts Fluor's rich legacy - from its humble beginnings as a family construction business in Southern California to the global mega projects that would define the company's industry-leading reputation.
