Op het achterste schutblad potlood aantekeningen en de restanten van een ooit bijgevoegde enveloppe. Deze "Harper Sealed Mystery Certificate" is niet meer aanwezig. Wel is op pagina 185 nog te zien waar deze enveloppe bevestigd was. Zie foto 10. Het boek werd uitgegeven met de laatste circa 165 pagina`s omgeven door de enveloppe. Als men de enveloppe openbrak (in dit geval bij pagina 185) kon men het verhaal uitlezen. Als men de enveloppe dicht hield dan kon men het boek naar de winkel terugbrengen en kreeg men het betaalde geld terug. Wanneer men tien enveloppen verzamelde kon men deze tien enveloppen (moesten van verschillende titels in de Harpers mystery serie zijn) inwisselen voor een gratis Harpers Mystery boek.
Blijkbaar heeft de eerste eigenaar van dat aanbod gebruik gemaakt, waardoor de enveloppe nu niet meer aanwezig is.
