The engraved titlepage gives 1649 as year of publishing and 'VI deel van de Tragedische Historie' as short title. Colophon on the last page states: Tot Utrecht, Gedruct by Lambert Roeck wonende in de Lange-nieustraet. 12mo., full parchment spitselbinding, [4]+698 pp., the front hinge has come loose exposing the spine and the parchment strips used to attach the headbands. One of these parchment strips shows some older Gothic lettering. The parchment of the binding is somewhat smudged with some stains, the sewing of the bookblock is intact, some pages have small tears, folds and stains, but the printwork is clear. With a beautiful designed engraving on the half titlepage by Reinier van Persyn. The drawing illustrates two moments from the second story: in the foreground the lovers are left behind on the island, while the boat returns to the ship; above a scene among the trees: the lady buries her dead husband. See: Keersmaekers, G. A. Bredero’s Vertaalde gedichten, 1981. l We could trace only one copy of this sixth volume in the De Vries-edition (Museum Plantin-Moretus). Not in KB/STCN. According to Keersmaekers the stories in Vol 6 are not by Bandello. Reinier Telle translated the originally Italian stories of this volume from the French into Dutch. He asked his friend Bredero for a versification of the intermezzi. The text is complete, but the pages are misnumbered. [8], 698 pp. [skips p. 21, p. 321-330, p.419 numbered as 371, p. 560 numbered as 661.
