It book surveys one of the worlds most important collections of jewelry, that of the Imperial Romanov family, rulers of Russia for more than three centuries. Through his work at Sothebys and Christies and his own extensive research, the author Stefano Papi has spent years unravelling the mysteries of the Russian imperial jewels. He uncovers the fascinating stories behind the jewels and the people, and takes us through the golden years, and after the Revolution.The late 19th and early 20th centuries were a time of elegance and extravagance for Russias ruling tsars and the wealthy families with whom they were linked by marriage, and nowhere are these tastes more apparent than in the imperial jewels. The revised edition has 48 more pages than the first and includes some 50 additional images of jewels as well as contextual photographs.
