The Unknown Revolution is a careful documentation by the Russian author Vsevolod Mikhalivich Eichenbaum who wrote under the pseudonym Voline. He completed the history of the arise and development of the Russian Revolution of 1917 by documenting the many facts that the liberals and the Bolsheviks 'forgot' to mention in their versions of what happened in those revolutionary times. It is in fact the libertarian view on the history of the Russian Revolution. Voline, who participated himself as an anarchist activist during the revolution, explains the course of the development in great detail and indicates how things went wrong. He demonstrates that the anarchist forces, though weak in the beginning, became a determinant factor, in spite of the huge repression, first by the Tsarists and then by the Bolsheviks under Lenin and Trotsky.
