Translations from Purchas “Notes, concerning the Proceedings of the Factory at Cranganore from the Journal of Roger Hawes”. Hawes sailed in the fleet under Keeling, in 1615, which carried out Sir Thomas Roe. Captain Alexander Childe was commander of the ship James, during the voyage of Terry, under Captain Benjamin Joseph, of the ship Charles, who was slain in a seafight with a Portuguese carack, off one of the Komoro islands.
