This is not what I would call a string art book. It is about using string to create art, but not the spirograph-type things. If I could rename the book, I would call it String Collage.
It's refreshingly different, and I really like most of the things shown. I don't think there's anything step by step, but each creation is unique so it's mostly inspirational.
The word string covers anything from fine to rope, by the way. Some of my favorites in the book were made by tearing apart natural-fiber rope and arranging the fibers in designs. Most of the designs appear to be abstract but not all of them. I got the feeling that the people who did these works of art had just let their imaginations go and had fun!
There's one part that shows an ancient Egyptian sort of macramé-type stuff. I think they called it sprang. It's the only thing I recall that isn't collage. And it may actually be shown step by step, come to think of it.
Yes, it's a unique book I think and I recommend it.
