A Mexican architect with a deep knowledge of European architecture (he worked with Le Corbusier from 1947-48 and helped in the construction of the 'Unité d'Habitation' in Marseilles), Teodoro González de Léon has designed many public and private buildings in both Mexico and elsewhere during the course of his lengthy career. His architecture is deeply entrenched in XXth century rationalism, which he has reworked from its very roots to draw out both the traditions on which it leans and its influence on key issues of contemporary culture, such as balanced relations with nature, the challenge of new technology, and dynamic developments in new languages-idioms projected beyond modernity.
