Here has approached the question of union of the free peoples from a new angle. He finds the deficiency in our progress towards such a union to lie in the blindness of the free peoples themselves, who have forgotten, or will not consider, that free institutions have promoted practically all the progress and prosperity the world has experienced in the last two hundred years; and that the way to preserve individual liberty is to broaden rather than to narrow the social organization fo which the individual is the unit.
To this thesis he brings a wealth of historical material and sound analysis that makes the book even more effective than Union Now, his original book on this topic.
